Marilyn gives us a glimpse into the emotional turmoil of losing someone you love and the tremendous frustration of dealing with doctors, hospitals, hospice care and government agencies. This is an important read since every one of us will face these same issues at some point. Better to read it sooner rather than later. If the unthinkable happens unexpectedly, Marilyn's book will help you to be prepared. Thank-you Marilyn, for also letting people know that we each have our own way of dealing with loss.

You have written a wonderful book, in a way that makes the subject easily absorbed and useful in many, many ways.
Glenna and I (widow and widower now married) chose to sit in front of the fire yesterday as I read it out loud from cover to cover. A wonderful way to spend a cold rainy afternoon.
Both of us have lived through the experience you talk about and could relate fully. Several things would have been easier had we read the book before the events began.
As with you, our faith in the Almighty was anchoring. In my case, having some "gifts" and being a tool for Him all my life, was really helpful. None the less, after 62 plus years with a wonderful partner, I had all of your experiences, only in a shorter time span.
Everyone should read your book while in their late twenties, early thirties and then keep it for future reference.

This is an excellent book that shows what can happen if you are not fully prepared for the loss of a loved one. It tells you to do your homework and get all records about health care and other financial matters together ahead of time so that the Last Soul Standing does not have to go through what Marilyn did. The book vividly shows how you must question all authorities in the best interest of your loved one and also yourself. Thanks, Marilyn.
I just finished reading "Last Soul Standing", by Marilyn Poscic. This was a great book, as it clearly expressed all the emotions of a relative, who is left to deal with the one that is passing. It clearly expresses the feelings we will all experience once we are the last soul in our family standing. Marilyn is as human as the rest of us. It shows others that even us physics have difficult lives and we, too, have to deal with the same emotions you do, even though we know that our loved ones are going to a better place. Marilyn's book was extremely helpful with a lot of needed information we will all need to have. She is good at evoking our emotions. Marilyn, this book brought me to tears and reminded me of the passing of my step-dad, who I had to forgive and let go. It was very emotional for me and no easy task. Thank you for the memory and sharing your story with us! I can't wait to read the next book!!

Marilyn has broken down into "bite size pieces" the information needed when caring for someone unable to speak for themselves. I went through the same thing with my husband, except my 'trial' lasted years instead of months. Her down to earth style of writing and her insights into what she was feeling are easy to understand.

I could not put this book down, I had to see what was next. Marilyn has not only given her wonderful story to us but she has given so much information on how to care for anyone really that will need long term care. We are so upset when something happens we will trust and believe anyone in the medical field. My Dad had open heart surgery 2 years ago and I wish I had this information when my brother and I were trying to make the right choices for him. He also had to move to a rehab and it was so scary for him and me, My Dad was never in a hospital in his life and all of a sudden he is cut open and now has to learn to walk again in this scary place. He was so afraid of the other people in there that he would only eat in his room.
My parents are very old and I will now use this book as a guide to get things in order for them and myself. She is so right, if you wait until something happens you won't be able to think since our brains become mush when we are under that kind of stress.
